What is Anglicanism?
Anglicanism is a worldwide body of people responding to God’s revelation through Jesus Christ. Anglicanism’s theology is derived from the English Reformation of the sixteenth century. Anglicans believe in the Gospel: we are forgiven by Christ and have peace with God only through Christ. We enter into a relationship with God the Father through Christ’s atoning sacrifice for us. The means by which we have any relationship with God is by faith: “Faith comes by hearing and by hearing through the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17).
Anglicans believe that the Bible is God’s word. We believe in the historic faith and the beauty of structured prayer. It is rooted in tradition, yet contemporary in practice. It is united in substance, yet diverse in expression. We are a global family living out our faith in local communities.
