A vestry in the Anglican tradition is the elected lay leadership body of a parish, typically including wardens and other officers, that shares responsibility with the clergy for the church’s temporal affairs such as finances, property, and administrative decisions. Its members are usually chosen from the congregation at an annual parish meeting, are expected to be active communicants, and serve as a representative voice of the parish in shaping mission, supporting the rector, and ensuring good governance.
